Over the past few years, we’ve had the pleasure in watching the BCEC really develop and grow spiritually and physically. It’s been really exciting being part of this growing community, and there’s so much to thank God for. Last year, our church’s overall vision began to take place, as we discovered our calling to Love God with all our heart, soul, mind & strength and to love our neighbour as ourselves. This year, we’re beginning to discover new ways to live out that vision, by discovering what it means to be strong and courageous in the Lord.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

In our adventures of being strong and courageous, I’d like to encourage you to participate in a daily reading set adapted from the Boston Vineyard.

It’s called 40 Days of Faith.

Balancing our Old Testament journey through the book of Joshua, we’ll be going through a daily reading through the book of Mark. Hopefully this will challenge not only our minds, but our lives as well as we engage with God and grow spiritually in Him.

Things that I hope for each of you participating
1) That you’d experience at least one concrete gift from God.
2) That you’d discover a new boldness and courage in your daily walk with God.
3) That you’ll love God more than ever after these 40 days.

Things I hope for our church during this time:
1) That our church family will grow stronger spiritually.
2) That this lead our church into new directions on how to love our neighbours.
3) That God will help each of you find your place and purpose in the body.

How To
1) Daily Reading
Each day there will be a passage from the book of Mark, some observations from the passage, things to think about, and a few ways to pray. This reading helps develop your love of God in your heart, soul and mind. If you’ve got a comment, or some thoughts of encouragement, just add them to the comments of each day’s reading.

2) Strong & Courageous
Pick 5 people to start praying about specifically and boldly. Commit praying daily for them. And as the 40 days go on, ask God to work powerfully in their lives, and to use you in that process. Discover ways to be bold and courageous in your love of God.

Our church grows stronger when each of us begins to engage with God more and more. Let these 40 days before Passion Week be a time of powerful spiritual growth individually and as a spiritual family. I’m looking forward to joining you on these 40 days of faith.

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Joshua 1:8

The information here is adapted from material from Vineyard Christian Fellowship (now the Boston Vineyard) of Cambridge Massachusetts, originally written by Dave Schmelzer and Brian Housman. Bert has adapted it to apply closer to what we’re doing here at the BCEC.
